The doctor has told us that it is very common to have episodes of different things going wrong because with this disease it has irritated his brain and that can effect any part of his body. They have been addressing any need he has immediately and are taking really good care of him.
I have mentioned that they have been monitoring him for seizures. So far we don't have any on record with the EEG. As of right now they want to keep him on it until he wakes up a little bit so they are not only monitoring him when he is sleeping. The reason that they thought that he might be having seizures is because when he was in both ERs and the first 8 or 9 hours that he was in the PICU he was posturing which means his arms and shoulders would turn in a little but and he would get really stiff. They told us that it can just be a symptoms of Meningitis but it could also be seizures which is common for meningitis.
Today is the fifth day of his cold so they said that we might see a little bit of complications from that. He needed to have his mucus sucked out about every hour last night and a few times so far today. He is a little bit raspy when he breaths but they are trying to help him with that.
We are still waiting on the cultures to diagnose exactly what type of bacterial meningitis it is. Right now we definitely know that it is clear in his blood and his urine. Which is really good but they are still testing his spinal fluid. They decided at about 1 or 2 AM to culture it again because the first culture still wasn't growing anything. So we should hopefully know more in about a day from when they started the new one. Once they know what type it is they will give him a more specific and less invasive antibiotic then the two he is currently on. Right now they don't think it is the worst kind of Bacterial Meningitis because they haven't had to intubate him and his condition is good considering his diagnosis. Once we know what type of bacteria it is the CDC will also be contacted and depending on what kind it is they will contact people who have had contact with him in the last 2-7ish days depending on what it is. Those individuals might need to take antibiotics but besides that they should not be at greater risk.
Tyson is currently off of his cooling blanket which means that his temperature is at a good place constantly. His eyes are a bit swollen from all of his fluid and not being able to move around. He still hasn't opened his eyes and is in a sleeping state according to the Neurologist. The nurses do a pain test about every hour or two to check his responsiveness. He likes to move his arms and tries to swat them away from him. Mom, Dad and Grandmas have been talking to him and giving him a little bit of touch. He doesn't like being touched very much and that tends to raise his vitals.

Evening Update: Tyson's nuses were able to place his feeding tube so now he is recieving formula in his stomach and hopefully he will have bowl movements again in the next day. They will gradually bring him off of his IV fluids as they increase formula. They also told us thatvits a possibility that we will be taking him home with a feeding tube depending on how his development recovers with swollowing and sucking.
He is having some respritory trouble and they have had to increase and then decrese his oxygen levels a few times today depending on his need. They are still sucking some mucus out and they are starting some repritory tharapy to avoid raspy breathing. They also reposition him to help as well. About five minutes after they did the pounding on his chest he was improving a lot from what they are saying before.
He has also officially been diagnosed with Streptococcus Pneumonie bacterial meningitis. Which isnt the worst kind of Bacterial Meningitis and it is not usually the one that causes hearing loss but it can potentially cause pustules in the brain but they havent seen any of that so far.

The EEG machine records his brain activity and videos him constantly.
